Art by Miranda
✨ Hi there! My name is Miranda Saddleback, my Plains Cree name is ᓈᓈᑌᐏᑲᒥᐦᐠ Nânâtêwikamihk which translates into Sky Waves Lodge, the deity who projects their voice from above. I come from the country side of an Albertan reservation called Maskwacis in the four Bands of Samson Cree Nation, but currently reside in the city of Edmonton.
Imagine a vibrant mix of cultural richness and tech zest! As an Indigenous Plains Cree Nêhîyawêwin cultural presenter, I bring ancient wisdom to life with over two decades of storytelling magic. But guess what? I'm not just about the past – I'm a Web Developer and Coding Advocate since the Summer of 2023, dreaming of coding classes for the Maskwacis community. Oh, and did I mention I'm also a UX Designer and Digital Artist? Join me in this rollercoaster of creativity, where each skill converges into a lively tapestry of innovation and empowerment. Buckle up, we're about to have a blast!

Projects Worked On
Digital Art
In Tsista Kennedy's Digital Art class, tasked with crafting a piece embodying home, I found solace in the essence of ceremony. Home, to me, transcends physical space, residing within the sacred embrace of tradition and community. With each stroke, I wove the vibrant threads of familial bonds and the timeless rhythm of ritual into my creation. In the sanctuary of ceremony, be it under the open sky or within the shelter of a tipi, I am truly at home. This digital ode speaks volumes of the enduring warmth and belonging I find within the hallowed grounds of communal celebration and tradition.
UX/UI Design
In this wireframe, crafted during a transformative journey in UX/UI class, lies more than pixels—it embodies collaboration, passion, and a shared mission to empower Indigenous communities. Paired with kindred spirits, we sought to revitalize our languages through innovative app design. Lifelong friendships blossomed, each moment a cherished memory. This wireframe symbolizes a chapter of growth and camaraderie, a testament to the profound impact of the class. It unearthed a hidden passion, spawning over 50 website mockups post-program. Guided by Nick Mckinnis, I delved into Figma and Framer, honing skills and fueling a creative journey. Nick's mentorship was more than education; it was transformation.
Front-End Web Development
In a dynamic team project with 10 members, I enjoyed crafting CSS Global Styles and shaping the 'About Page'. Engaging in knowledge exchange, I supported teammates, fostering growth. This effort showcased internship-honed skills and built confidence. Since then, I've coded numerous websites, gaining confidence. Special thanks to mentors JC Ting, Gurjeet Singh Gill, Solivan Lau, and especially Max Harris, whose guidance shaped my coding journey.
