The Need
While Indigenous Peoples make up approximately 5% of Canada's population, only 2.2% of Canada's tech workforce is Indigenous.¹
Digital spaces have become a new place for stories, creativity, and knowledge to be shared and carried forward. As technology continues to shape our world, increasing Indigenous representation in these spaces helps ensure Indigenous perspectives, creativity, and ways of knowing help shape the future while creating new opportunities for Indigenous youth and adults.
What We Do
At Indigenous Friends Association, we provide free online programs in digital art, coding, web design, and technology that are grounded in Indigenous values, creativity, and ways of knowing.
More than 1,000 participants have already taken part in our programs, developing new skills, exploring opportunities, expressing their creativity, and connecting with a growing community of Indigenous learners, creators, and innovators.
For those looking to take the next step, we help connect participants with additional learning opportunities, mentorship, and internships that provide valuable hands-on experience and pathways into the tech sector.
